Boots Botanics Skincare Range Review

My skin has been reacting really badly to just about everything I’ve been putting on it lately and breaking out horribly. If you have ever had this happen then you know how stressful it can be! I’ve literally had to get rid of all my regular skin care leaving me with a real problem…what can I use?! I came across the Boots Botanics range which I’ve been using for a the last week. It has been developed with Kew Royal Botanic Gardens to create an affordable natural, plant-based skin care range.

I picked up the Gentle Cleansing Cream from the Ultra Calm range which is a cream cleanser for sensitive skin. The Ultra Calm range contains marshmallow, this contains natural sugars and polyphenols which hydrate and protect the skin. Even though this cleanser is a cream cleanser, it’s not too heavy. It removes makeup really well even stubborn mascara. It has a light floral fragrance so if you don’t like floral fragrance or fragrance at all you might not like it. It didn’t irritate my skin at all and it also took down some of the irritation. I also got the Micellar 3 in 1 cleansing solution, it is also in the Ultra Calm range and I’ve been using it to cleanse before my cream cleanser for when I’m wearing heavier make up like on a night out. Personally I’ve found in the past that my skin can get quite dehydrated if I use cleansing waters on their own. I have combination skin which can get dehydrated, I found my skin got a little tight after using this but if you had a normal or oily skin then it might suit you better. It is pretty good at getting make up off but the more stubborn eye makeup wouldn’t budge.

I also got the Mattifying Gel Cream from the Shine Away range, this range contains willowbark which is a natural source of salicylic acid which helps to refine skin texture and reduces breakouts. I’ll be honest I didn’t really like this gel mainly because it felt like it sat on the skin and didn’t absorb. After about 5 minutes it started peeling off which felt rotten! On the up side it did really mattify the skin for the 5 minutes it was on so if you suffer from open pores and have an oily skin type this may suit your skin better. The last product I got was the Mattifying Day Cream SPF15, this I did like though. It absorbed well into the skin without feeling heavy and really mattified the skin, making it a perfect base for makeup. I was also happy as it contained an SPF which is so important and it has a really gentle fragrance. This cream also contains Agarikon Mushroom extract which also helps tighten pores.

Even though this was a spur of the moment I have nothing to lose buy, I really like this skin care range. It’s natural based, affordable, it smells really great, I love the packaging and most important of all it hasn’t made my skin breakout! I feel my skin tone has improved and feels more hydrated. While the overall appearance of my skin is much better and my breakouts are healing and reduced. Because of the really reasonable pricing its the type of product you could buy without re-mortgaging the house and you might be pleasantly surprised. I’ll definitely be picking up more products from the range and what’s even better is they are half price in Boots at the moment.

Hope you are having a Happy Sunday!!xx

  1. Lucky me then – when I was choosing between the gel cream and day cream I chose the day cream with my guts. Wouldn’t want a gel cream that peels, even though I have a really oily skin type.
